Starting out from a band called The Hilltops, Cary Hudson moved on to bigger and better things. He became the lead singer and guitarist of Blue Mountain. When he and his wife divorced, the band, Blue Mountain, broke apart.

From there, Hudson moved on to his solo career. Like many country music singers, he tried his hand at other music genres. He produced three solo albums with the record label, Black Dog Records – owned by he and his cousin Chris Hudson. These albums mixed his electric guitar talent with his country music roots.

Recently in 2007, Hudson put his solo career on hold to reunite with Blue Mountain.
