Love…it has to be the number one subject of all music. It certainly is the highest ranking topic in country music song lyrics.

Keep in mind that most of these songs deal with heartbreak, so you could easily get the notion that all country music is about heartbreak – not true.

Some country songs deal with historical events, others deal with patriotic themes (Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless The USA” comes to mind).

Another one that I remember is the song “9 to 5″ – this song deals with inequality in the workplace and considering when it was written, it was quite the radical piece.
