If you’re speculating as to whether or not you need car rental insurance, you are not alone.  There are many people, who when they rent vehicles from a car rental company, believe wholeheartedly that car rental insurance is nothing more than a tactic used by car rental companies to get you to pay out extra money that you don’t really need to.  There is som truth to that, however.  If you are covered under insurance for your own personal vehicle, you may also automatically be covered if you go to rent a vehicle from a rental car agency.  However, it is always best, when you are renting a car, to contact your insurance company and ask them what their policy is for covering you if you are driving another vehicle.  Also, make sure that you read through the rental agreement for the rental car company that you will be renting a car from.  You can even contact them ahead of time and have them send you a copy of the agreement so that you can read through and understand what their policies are and if they make sense for you.
