When a friend recently showed me a new tiger coin that he had just picked up I was impressed with the quality of the design. I have always taken an interest in Chinese philosophy so this coin had instant appeal. Apparently the coin was part of the Australian lunar coins series put out by one of Australia’s mints. These coins are released every year to commemorate the new Chinese year. This particular coin was given to my friend as a birthday gift. Since he is born in the year of the tiger it was a symbolic and thoughtful gesture that made a big impact.
