Gout treatments

If you’re suffering from gout, you’re probably familiar with some of the different gout treatments available. Probably the most common type of treatment to help dull the swelling is anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen, naproxen and others. These are over the counter drugs, but often times you may require prescription doses. A drug called colchicine is usually used during acute attacks of gout and is very effective to control the gout symptoms. Sometimes though, this may prove ineffective in which case you will need a drug called corticosteroids. These are specialized hormones that usually provide quick relief to many patients. I’ve learned a lot about this since my grandmother has been diagnosed with it and I often have to help her with her treatments. Thank goodness her gout isn’t too severe though.
