Salt does not cause high blood pressure!

You can’t blame people for believing the myth that salt, or sodium in the diet can cause high blood pressure. Reducing or eliminating salt is almost always one of the first recommendations you see on the list for how to treat hypertension. But the fact is that salt is not the culprit; it’s an imbalance between sodium, magnesium and potassium in the body that causes the problem. And the reason for the imbalance is eating poor quality or processed foods that are high in salt and low in the other minerals. The solution is not to cut out salt but to eat natural, whole foods with the correct balance of these three important elements.
