Electronic Textbooks Make Sense

October 1st, 2009 by admin

The academic world is an arena which is generally thought of as being somewhat traditional and conservative – possibly even hidebound. So it’s perhaps just a little surprising, at least at first glance, to see how quickly the move to digital textbooks has been adopted. However, a little examination shows that it’s a very sensible decision. Digital textbooks are considerably cheaper than the paper variety – and what educational establishment doesn’t need to save money these days? It’s also very much easier to keep electronic textbooks revised and up to date. Finally, no paper, ink or distribution means that the environmental impact of electronic textbooks is much lower than paperbooks. All in all, moving to e-books makes a lot of sense.
