The Havanese dog, a breed that originated on Spain’s Canary Islands, is a toy breed known for its playful and easy going temperament. The Havanese are known for making great pets and due to the fact that they are great with kids as well as how easy havanese dog training can be, this fact is no large surprise. In addition, these majestic and beautiful dogs have been raised for show for several generations and are a staple at Kennel clubs and competition throughout North America and Europe. When at a competition or a show one trait looked for by the judges is a “natural” coat and, thusly, elaborate styles or bows or other ornaments being added to the fur are frowned upon. In addition, these show dogs can come in many different acceptable colors, with white being among the most popular as well as the likely original coloring of the breed.
