Getting the Travel Bug

Those who have caught the travel bug (or perhaps were born with it already intact) are all too often transfixed with the idea of world or international travel or other remote locales: all too often they fail to remember that not every trip requires the use of a travel backpack or passport to be worthwhile. In fact, some of the more memorable trips in my life have been short overnight or weekend trips with close friends and loved ones. As a kid I remember traveling with my parents and grandparents to the Catskill Mountains. I also vividly remember trips to the beaches of Maine or to Red Sox games up in Boston. Now an adult, I enjoy weekend getaways to the New Hampshire mountains with my wife or family reunions on the shores of Rhode Island. No matter how you slice it, weekend getaways and overnight trips are greatly under rated.
