The snake river and canoeing enthusiasts

August 25th, 2008 by admin

The Snake River is one of the most popular rivers for canoeing enthusiasts because of the various types of watery terrain it offers. You can find calm and peaceful stretches of river, as well as areas where you need to keep an extra sharp eye out for boulders, snags, and logs. You can even find some thrilling patches of whitewater – but in order to try these, you should be with a guide or have plenty of experience and time in a canoe. Some of the best stretches of the river for canoeing are in the areas near two of the most famous national parks in the nation: Yellowstone and Grand Teton. You can take a short trip down the river, or you might opt to spend several days floating along, stopping only for meals and to camp. Some of the animals that you might encounter on your journey include bears, deer, and wolves. Keep a good lookout, because you never know what you might see on the trip. A nice, exhilarating canoe trip down the river is just the right thing to push away your worries and really relax. You’ll get some good exercise and reconnect with the natural world.
